It's not news that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a seriously dark book, or that 1971's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is an equally dark rendition. That damn boat scene is horrifying LSD trip of a scene. Darker even is that Wonka's short factory workers (this seems explotaitive, no?) seem to celebrate the horrendous deaths of the visiting children. Sure, the kids sucked, but they're kids. Memers have started to play with this dark theme and the memes do not disappoint.
